Admission: Class of 2010

The MSU Dietetic Internship/Graduate Studies Program accepts up to 8 students annually. The program will begin August 1, 2010 for April computer match. 

Admission is on a competitive basis. Successful applicants will have:

  • a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • met CADE accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) requirements
  • minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
  • demonstrated success on standardized tests
  • relevant work experience
  • good interpersonal communication skills
  • demonstrated capacity for leadership

Applications are reviewed by a selection committee. Scores are tallied and applicants ranked based on the scores. Rankings are sent to D & D for computer matching.  In addition to meeting the requirements for the Dietetic Internship/Graduate Studies Program, interns must be admitted to the MSU Graduate Studies Program in Food Science, Nutrition, and Health Promotion. Admission to the program is open to qualified students regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability or veteran status.

Admission Requirements for Graduate School

To apply to Graduate Studies at Mississippi State University, complete the appropriate on-line forms from www.msstate.edu/dept/grad or request an application by standard mail by e-mail: grad@grad.msstate.edu.  Applicants are advised that all transcripts and documents needed to support an application for admission should reach the Graduate Studies Office at least 6 weeks prior to the anticipated date of registration.

The decision to admit an applicant to pursue graduate study at MSU is based upon evaluations of both qualitative and quantitative information. All applicants must provide a completed application form (3 copies), statement of purpose form (2 copies), 3 letters of recommendation, official score reports of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), and a non-refundable application fee of $35.00 for all non-Mississippi residents.
